Step 1: Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Step 2: Prep the Apples
- Peel, core, and quarter the apples.
- In a medium saucepan, add the apple quarters and enough water to just cover them.
- Simmer over medium heat for about 4 minutes, or until the apples are slightly softened.
- Remove from heat, stir in the sugar, and let the mixture cool.
Step 3: Prepare the Pastry
- Slice each puff pastry sheet in half lengthwise. Then, cut each half into three equal rectangles, giving you a total of six pieces per sheet (12 in total).
- On half of the rectangles, cut slits or small decorative designs to allow steam to escape during baking.
Step 4: Assemble the Danish
- Lightly dampen the edges of one plain pastry rectangle with water.
- Place a portion of the cooled apple mixture in the center.
- Cover with a slit-cut pastry rectangle, pressing the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Repeat the process to create six apple parcels.
Step 5: Bake
- Arrange the assembled parcels on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Sprinkle the tops with a light dusting of sugar for added sweetness and a crispy finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.
