Italian Meatloaf Recipe

This Italian Meatloaf is the ultimate comfort food, combining the rich flavors of ground beef, Italian sausage, herbs, and gooey mozzarella cheese. Topped with marinara sauce and more cheese, it’s a meal your family will request over and over again!


Ingredients

  • Meatloaf:
    • 1 lb. ground beef
    • 1/2 lb. ground mild Italian sausage
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper (any color; orange was used in this recipe)
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • 3/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs
    • 2 slices white bread, crumbled
    • 1 tablespoon milk
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
    • 1/2 teaspoon basil
    • 1/2 teaspoon parsley
    • 8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese (reserve 3/4 cup for topping)
    • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
    • 1 cup marinara sauce (plus 1/2–3/4 cup for topping)
  • For sautéing:
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil
